Back to the Small and Simple Things

Well it was a LONG and busy week but oddly I feel more rested and relaxed. I think a lot of it was because I didn’t put all the crazy extra stress I normally put on myself every day during the break so it felt like I was LIVING and LOVING life. So I guess since it was Spring Break – I gave myself a BREAK. ūüėČ ¬†I need to do that more often and am trying to refocus my life and my priorities. This week is dedicated to getting my routines back on track- aka FlyLady¬†style like I have mentioned before. I have been reminded lately from reading the book¬†The Compound Effect¬† (I downloaded to my iBooks app and read every chance I get)- ¬† it is the small and simple things we do every day that make a HUGE difference in our lives.

So today¬†I got back to those small things that make a big difference and that I have been putting off (and even dreading doing) – ¬†picking up little things around the house and putting them in their rightful place, cleaned out the fridge and my pantry so I can plan a menu and grocery list for the next 2 weeks, got all the trash from the house out for trash day, put away laundry that had been piling up, ¬† finally got to work on and finish my Spring Break post :), cooked a healthy dinner that my family loved, had the whole family help clean the kitchen after dinner to make lighter work, had Family Night and a treat, and I shined my sink, laid out my workout stuff for tomorrow and did my bedtime routine before heading to bed. ¬† My To-Do list is still a mile long…….but I know that doing small and simple things each day really make a BIG difference!

About Carman

36 year old military wife of 18 years and stay at home mom to 4 incredible kids (3 girls ages 17, 11, 11 and our son is 6). After my 4th, and final baby, I decided I wanted to be more active, healthier, happier, and to be an example to my kids. I joined Weight Watchers and started using the Points Plus program to learn portion control, moderation, and develop healthier habits. I also used the dietSNAPS app to track my meals and it was such a life changer for me to literally *see* what I was putting in my body! Cyndi, Lexy and I created this blog to be accountability partners and that has been a huge key to this journey! I love to cook and I love converting my favorite recipes into a healthier version for my family to enjoy! I love the after effects of exercising :) I love challenging myself to fitness goals to change things up and in doing so I have run numerous 5K/10K's, several half marathons, one full 26.2 marathon, and a Tough Mudder. I love circuit training, weight training, and running sprints. My goal is to inspire others to take their health seriously, and to show how small changes can lead to big results.
