If you’re like me, you really enjoyed your Christmas “vacation”! Santa was very good to me and it was so awesome to be surrounded by family and friends. I wish I could say that it was a perfect week….it was not. My sweet hubby got really sick and actually missed a whole week of work. It was a blessing in disguise because he really needed to take some time off and rest his poor, worn out body. I became his nurse and answered his every beckon call – 24 hours a day. It was a l o n g week. We haven’t spent that much time together in a long time. Other than him being so sick, it was wonderful! We had lots of visitors and I was able to do some baking. I love taking home-baked things to my neighbors and have been keeping this tradition alive for many years. I know it’s better to give than to receive, but it was sure nice to receive so many “goodies” from my friends. Of course, I had to partake. As far as eating goes, I did really good up until Thursday before Christmas…so many wonderful delights I just couldn’t pass up. And of course, Christmas Eve dinner at my son’s home was wonderful. I have to give a special nod to my daughter-in-law for having us in their home and having such a beautiful table and great food! And, the Nerf-gun wars were especially fun! Thanks to grandson #4 for my beautiful toothpicks!
The saddest thing of all was that a really good friend passed away.
You really start to think about your own mortality when your friends start dying. His funeral was beautiful and in spite of that, we were able to reconnect with their extended family and more old friends. My friend Donna is a real inspiration to me and together, her family has taught me so many things over the past years. God bless them all. I know Rufus is having a grand time with my mom and dad!
My husband has recovered, and Christmas 2011 is a thing of the past now. I’m looking forward with much anticipation to the New Year and New Beginnings! My workout today wasn’t too bad and my trainer is gracious enough to understand the holidays…I did gain a couple of pounds. Due to all the problems I had to take a break from my workout schedule, so now I feel like I’m starting over. My mind is in the right place though, so it won’t be an issue. I’m seeing my high school friends in April and I’m hoping they won’t recognize me. Wouldn’t that be awesome? I have another 35 pound weight loss goal to meet. When I reach that goal, I will be down 70 pounds!! Happy, healthy New Year to all! I’m going for it!! -Claretta
