Claretta – Week 32

Quick Trip!

Sometimes you just have to be spontaneous and that’s exactly what I did last week.  I was literally sitting at home around 4pm last Monday and the next thing I know, my bags were packed, I picked up my crazy sister-in-law, Sherry and we drove 6 hours to the New Orleans area to visit my other crazy sister-in-law, Libby.  We arrived around 11pm (Sherry slept the whole way!!!)  We all had a hankering to go antiquing and there are some great shops over there.  The other crazy thing about our trip was that is was Mardi Gras in New Orleans!!  I didn’t even know, seriously.  It didn’t make any difference, I don’t care a thing about all that craziness, not when there’s serious antiquing to be done.  Of course, we had a blast and I found some cool stuff to fix up my bedroom.  Hint:  Fireplace in my bedroom!!

I’m happy to say that I was able to eat good and not gain any weight while I was gone.  I did walk/jog early every morning, but no gym experience.  You know, I’m in training for my big, first ever, 5k this Saturday.

Oh boy!  Also, Jessica, my personal trainer is back and she didn’t yell at me for not having a food journal.  I promised to better in that department, but I’m not starting this week out very well.  I’ve been acting like I’m on maintenance, so I haven’t lost or gained in quite some time.  I need to get my hiney in gear again and start losing weight.

Highlight of this week was attending a presentation that my daughter gave last night at a ladies meeting.  She gave a wonderful talk about her personal weight loss journey and she had a powerpoint presentation to go along with it.  She made the point that it’s a slow journey and anyone at any age can begin.  You know I’ve been pretty hard on myself, thinking that I didn’t look any different.  Well, she surprised me last night by mentioning my weight loss and showing a before and after pic of me.  I’ve included it for your personal enjoyment.  Thanks for the reminder Lexy!!

One last thing:  I love this quote I heard on the Ellen DeGeneris show the other day:

“To Preserve your Sexy, you must change your diet.”

About Lexy

40 years old, "stay at home mom" to 2 boys (ages 16 and 14), wife to a chiropractic kinesiologist! I love blogging and learning new ideas. I follow the Weight Watchers Points Plus program and enjoy working out. I have run 2 full 26.2 mile marathons and 3 half marathons... and many 10k and 5k's. I love taking BodyPump classes and lifting weights. Working out has always been fun for me, but I struggle with eating healthy. Blogging has introduced me to a world of healthy eaters... When I first started WW... I just wanted someone to tell me what to eat! I didn't like cooking and I am not the kind of person that can just throw things together. There are tons of ideas out there and I love finding new and fun ones that I feel like I am capable of making myself!
