Claretta – Week 7

-3 hurray!!!  (total -16 pounds)

HA HA HA!!!   I’ve gone to the gym everyday this week (only I’m walking NOT running!!).  I really had to get over the fact that there would be skinny girls in their cute workout clothes and iPods.  Feeling insecure about how I would look has stopped me before.   I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised.  On my first day I fixed my hair and put on make up!  I found the women’s workout area and to my surprise, there were ladies of all ages, some younger and a few older than me.  They were wearing comfortable clothes, hair up in bandanas or pony tails, no make-up, no one trying to make me look bad!  I mean everyone was doing their thing.  It was great!!  So, I decided to start slow on the treadmill and walk for 20 minutes, then increase to 25 minutes by the end of the week.  On the second day, I was able to walk over 1 mile at the optimum heart rate for my age.  I’m sure my blonde “coach” will laugh at this since she’s an experienced marathon runner…it is now my goal to run/walk at least a 5k or 1/2 marathon with her by the end of next year.  So, I start slow for now.
Also, I started an Aqua class.  Hopefully, this will work some of the other parts of my body and not kill me!
Exercise is good…exercise is good…exercise is good…exercise is good!  Apparently it’s just what I needed.

About Lexy

40 years old, "stay at home mom" to 2 boys (ages 16 and 14), wife to a chiropractic kinesiologist! I love blogging and learning new ideas. I follow the Weight Watchers Points Plus program and enjoy working out. I have run 2 full 26.2 mile marathons and 3 half marathons... and many 10k and 5k's. I love taking BodyPump classes and lifting weights. Working out has always been fun for me, but I struggle with eating healthy. Blogging has introduced me to a world of healthy eaters... When I first started WW... I just wanted someone to tell me what to eat! I didn't like cooking and I am not the kind of person that can just throw things together. There are tons of ideas out there and I love finding new and fun ones that I feel like I am capable of making myself!

Mom!!! I am soooo proud of you! It’s so cool that you have been plugging away at this week after week. And the fact that you have gone to the gym all week just makes me happy! :) I look forward to doing a 5K or half marathon with you… I say we all sign up for the Turkey Trot 5K at Thanksgiving! Hmmm….. I’m off to find a training schedule for you… :)
