Daily Tracking "How-to"

I thought it might be helpful to some of you to see how I track my daily stuff…
First, I use dietSNAPS app on my iPhone… I know that it’s not available on the droid at the moment, but it’s coming eventually.  Check under the Resources Tab for all of the apps that we find helpful during this process!  I always have my iPhone with me and this app keeps tracking points very easy!
Start out by just taking a picture of what you are eating.  Using the camera on the phone.
There is also an option to take a picture from within the app.
Click the “+” button in the top right corner once the app is open…  you will get this screen…
Make your selections (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, exercise, journal) making sure to click “done” after each one…
In the “notes” section is where I list the Points Plus value for what I’m eating.
Then click the picture of the camera in the bottom left….
At this point, either choose to take a picture of your food, or go to the photo library to retrieve the one you already have stored.
Click “choose” and then “save”….
And that’s it!  It is now stored in your monthly dietSNAPS calendar.
You can either view by the month or by the day.
At the end of the day, I email myself my daily dietSNAPS log.  That’s when I do my nightly blog post for my food intake.  It’s very simple.
One additional tip is that you can make a journal entry on dietSNAPS during the day and enter how many points you have eaten so far….. to keep you on track.
After my nightly blog post, I log in to the Weight Watchers tracker and make one entry for the day for total points used.  The WW site keeps track of how many activity points I enter… and how many extra weekly points I have remaining….
Huge Tip!!!  On the Weight Watchers tracker….. you can change your settings to swap your ACTIVITY points before swapping your EXTRA weekly points allowance.  If you are someone that works out a lot…. you may want to try this!   When doing vigorous exercise, your body requires more nutrients and this is a great way to see exactly how much more you should be eating….
I hope this helps a little and doesn’t confuse you more!!!  If you have any questions or need further explanation…. leave a comment!!
Do you have any tracking tips that you would like to share???

About Lexy

40 years old, "stay at home mom" to 2 boys (ages 16 and 14), wife to a chiropractic kinesiologist! I love blogging and learning new ideas. I follow the Weight Watchers Points Plus program and enjoy working out. I have run 2 full 26.2 mile marathons and 3 half marathons... and many 10k and 5k's. I love taking BodyPump classes and lifting weights. Working out has always been fun for me, but I struggle with eating healthy. Blogging has introduced me to a world of healthy eaters... When I first started WW... I just wanted someone to tell me what to eat! I didn't like cooking and I am not the kind of person that can just throw things together. There are tons of ideas out there and I love finding new and fun ones that I feel like I am capable of making myself!

Awesome- I'm glad you like it! dietSNAPS only works on iPhone for now…. but should be available for droid soon…. In the meantime, you could at least get used to taking pics of your food. :) Thx for your comments! You never know if people find this info helpful or not?? Haha!!
