Get & Stay Slim Secret!

Last week when I was in the doctor’s office with one of my kids I read through the Health Monitor magazine they had in the wainting room.  Martina McBride was on the cover and I am a huge country fan!!!  There was also an article on Allison Sweeney (I used to watch on Days of Our Lives YEARS ago!! haha) …..I just love her….she is a mom, she’s real, she has had weight issues, and struggles just like we do. I love her blog and tips that she shares! In her article about how she keeps 30lbs off….I came across this little gem……..

So it IS ok to eat the same things!!! 😉 Sometimes we eat the same things over and over for weeks and weeks and  then we think we need to change things up. For me it has been easier to be on track and/or get back on track when I am eating those same few things I am familiar with….at least for my breakfast, pre & post workout snacks and even lunches. I think if you are getting bored with what you are eating, then that’s one thing…..but I think from experience its best to change up just ONE meal/snack in your diet to something new if you are starting to get  bored. Sometimes when we try to change up our whole daily menu to new things it can make us flustered and frustrated. (speaking from experience!! 😉 )

Lately for me, I’ve been trying to get back into ‘weight loss mode’ after being in maintenance mode for the last 4 months and its been hard!!  I sat down and wrote out a list of my ‘go to’ healthy foods that I know the serving size and Points Plus values to, and have eaten over the last several months since starting Weight Watchers in March. I taped them to the inside of ‘my snack’ cabinet door so if I feel like changing my lunch up or am wanting something different for breakfast—then I can look at my tried and true list and pick something– instead of racking my brain trying to remember what I used to eat.

My hope is that as I continue to add to this list as I find new ideas and recipes, and get comfortable with them in my menus,  then I will have an AWESOME  list of healthy foods that I love to always refer to!

This is my list I am still adding daily to……..

Even though I am TRYING to cut back on the fast food and eating out, hence the article says above–but sometimes we just do….so I started a list of the places that I like, that I KNOW the healthy things I can eat, AND that I am comfortable and confident making good choices there.

What are some of your ‘tried-and-true-go-to’ healthy food choices or places to eat???

About Carman

36 year old military wife of 18 years and stay at home mom to 4 incredible kids (3 girls ages 17, 11, 11 and our son is 6). After my 4th, and final baby, I decided I wanted to be more active, healthier, happier, and to be an example to my kids. I joined Weight Watchers and started using the Points Plus program to learn portion control, moderation, and develop healthier habits. I also used the dietSNAPS app to track my meals and it was such a life changer for me to literally *see* what I was putting in my body! Cyndi, Lexy and I created this blog to be accountability partners and that has been a huge key to this journey! I love to cook and I love converting my favorite recipes into a healthier version for my family to enjoy! I love the after effects of exercising :) I love challenging myself to fitness goals to change things up and in doing so I have run numerous 5K/10K's, several half marathons, one full 26.2 marathon, and a Tough Mudder. I love circuit training, weight training, and running sprints. My goal is to inspire others to take their health seriously, and to show how small changes can lead to big results.

Love this post!! :) I don’t think there is anything wrong with eating the same things over and over… especially if they are good for you and you LOVE them!
