Happy New Years Eve!

Since it was Saturday – Lexy and I wanted to do our usual Saturday morning run. We have missed getting to run with our running group in Texas and we didn’t get to run in CO cause there was too much ice. So we headed out in the hills of Kansas and got in 4 miles – without dying. 😉  Not too shabby for these Texas girls who run on flat land. 😉 It was nice to run again – I’ve missed it!

Then all the adults and the little ones headed up to the church for some church ball – the young teenagers stayed back for some ‘quiet time’. 😉  I haven’t played basketball in YEARS!!!!!  It was so much fun playing with these guys!! It was also another way we got in more activity points! I realized since I have made exercise a habit all year – that I was actually able to enjoy a sport that I didn’t really enjoy as much when I was younger.

got in my 61 burpees in between rest breaks – Dave decided to ‘join’ me on a few – I was laughing so hard as we were trying to do them in sync 😉

when we got back I first had some post-basketball-workout protein – 2

then I had a sandwich with turkey, spinach, dijon mustard, tomatoes, and pickles

New Years Eve dinner was AWESOME! Kamie cooked her famous prime rib served with au jus and horseradish, and we had sweet potatoes and a salad – all with the yummy Martinelli’s sparkling cider to ring in the new year right! 😉

After dinner we did a re-enactment picture of a picture that we took over 7 years ago……..

(we forgot to do it outside in May when they came to TX)

ate a couple of these with homemade peach preserves while we played dominoes

 

Kamie made these cinnamon crescent rolls with a yummy maple glaze – they were soooo good!!!! I think I had 2 1/2 or was it 3 1/2??? I lost count. They were sooo addicting.

We watched the ball drop in NYC and then had fun playing games; mexican train, signs, and I can’t remember the name of the last one that the guys won…..but it was lots of fun!!

Ammy was giving all his cousins New Years kisses!!! It was too cute! 😉

I have really enjoyed this 2 week vacation!!!  I came on this trip with the mentality to make good choices,  try to have my familiar foods on hand and cook when I can, earn fun activity points, but still let myself enjoy the yummy food that comes with the festivities this time of year. I feel like I have done that and now it will be that much easier to get back on track and get back on a routine when I get home because of the healthy habits I have developed throughout this year. With that said,  I am definitely looking forward to a new year and more new beginnings – and I love seeing the CLEAN slate in my dietSNAPS app!!!!!  😉
