I have a wonderful family and I have been married for 3 yrs, but have been with my husband for 6yrs. I have 3 kids, oldest is a boy (17), middle is my girl (7), and my youngest boy (2). I love to spend time with family and friends. I enjoy cooking, swimming, and being outdoors.
Have you struggled with weight/body image issues throughout your life?
I only struggled after having my kids. Since then I have been trying to lose weight constantly.
Was there a significant event that triggered your changes?
When I reached my heaviest weight of 170 lbs.
Did you have someone that inspired you to make changes?
My kids and being able to play with them whenever they asked.
Did you incorporate a certain diet? Restrict calories? Or follow any certain plan?
I just exercised and ate right. I didn’t really have any extra money to spend on diets. The cheapest was taking the diet pills, then in December 2011 I joined Weight Watchers, which is by far the best thing I’ve done for myself!
Do you exercise? If so, what type of exercise do you enjoy? Did you work out with family or friends?
Yes I do! I use the DVD “Insanity” or my other fave Billy Blanks! I did workout with family and friends but then they ended up being too busy, so I couldn’t depend on them to do it always.
When did people first notice the changes?
When I got into Weight Watchers and lost 15lbs. I am still currently losing!
Did it take a while for your mind to adjust to the new you?
No, I’ve been exercising on and off for while, but to go to the stores and get a size 4 was so freaking awesome!!!!!! I cried because I was wearing that size before the kiddos!!!!
How did you measure your success throughout the process? How much weight did you lose and how long have you kept it off?
I measured up to my success by doing WW online and tracking my food and activity which was pretty cool. When I lost over 5lbs they gave me a star! I have lost 15lb and so far I’ve kept it up for 4 months. I am still losing weight and my goal weight is getting closer every week!
Do you feel like your confidence has improved?
Oh yes, I can wear my size 4 JEANS!!!
How did your family react? Were they supportive?
My family is very supportive. When my husband and kids saw me losing the weight they were always so excited for me. My biggest fan is my daughter. She says when she hugs me now she can actually touch her hands. Ya, that made me cry!
What do you eat on an average day? What are some of your favorite foods that keep you on track?
Hmmm, I usually have eggs or oatmeal in the morning. When lunch comes around I usually have tuna or left overs from the night before. For dinner I use the recipes from Weight Watchers so I can stick within my points. I love Tuna and PB&J. My faves!!
What are your biggest tips for people that are trying to maintain their weight loss?
Eat right, workout, and enjoy life! Keep up the hard work! It may be a little slow but I guarantee you will enjoy the results you see! Get at least 30 mins of cardio by cleaning or playing with your kids and track it, before you know it you’ll hit 30 mins or even an hour and you didn’t realize you actually worked out!
