Lite Your Fire Monday’s :)

Today’s Success Story is amazing!!! I first met Tammy the day I received my Lifetime award… she probably doesn’t remember me, but she is the one that checked me into the meeting that day. The reason I remember this is because she too had recently received her Lifetime award! She lost an incredible 122 lbs! She started working for Weight Watchers as a receptionist last summer and is now a leader!! Congratulations Tammy and thank you so much for sharing your story, tips, and advice with us! You are awesome!!

First Name/Age: Tammy, 43

Have you struggled with weight/body image issues throughout your life?

I’ve never been small, but not overly over weight. As a young adult, after getting married and having children, the weight started coming on and staying!

Was there a significant event that triggered your changes?

My friend and I joined WW in 2002 and I lost 70 lbs! In 2003, I got down to 199 lbs and “thought” I didn’t need WW anymore! I didn’t want to spend the money! Then I gained all of the weight back and a little more! Seeing myself in a full length mirror helped me SEE  I needed help!

Did you have someone that inspired you to make changes?

Making the journey along with my best friend and knowing I could do this with WW’s help! Wanting to be healthy and alive!!

Did you incorporate a certain diet? Restrict calories? Or follow any certain plan?

I follow Weight Watchers!! Counting points is a way of life for me!! My kids always ask me “Mom, how many points is that??!!”

Do you exercise? If so, what type of exercise do you enjoy? Did you work out with family or friends?

Oh, I love to exercise!!! Started out with doing the treadmill, walking! Now, three years into my journey, I run 6-7 miles a day!! (outside) I love it!! Don’t want to miss a day! I’m usually by myself or my husband will come along! I’d love a running partner!!

When did people first notice the changes?

Been a while now, but I’d say about 25 lb loss?! Probably first in my face!

Did it take a while for your mind to adjust to the new you?

Yes! But having fun buying new clothes and feeling good about myself is awesome! My mind sometimes thinks I’m big… While camping I said “Oh, I need to get the BiG chair!” and remembered “No, I didn’t need it!!” Yea!!!

How did you measure your success throughout the process? How much weight did you lose and how long have you kept it off?

The scale of course!! And how my clothes fit! The size of my clothes! Then, my successes of making good choices! I lost 122 lbs!!! Received my Lifetime Award from WW in June 2011! Still doing good! It’s still hard work to maintain but I want it to be a lifestyle!!

Do you feel like your confidence has improved?

Oh yes!! Very much so!

How did your family react? Were they supportive?

Yes very very supportive! I have a very close family!

What do you eat on an average day?/What are some of your favorite foods that keep you on track?

My main focus is vegetables!! Eating lots of variety! Trying new things and loving them! I recently discovered eggplant!! I love fresh spinach!! I’ve been following the “Simply Filling with Weight Watchers.” That helps me eat healthy and make good choices!!  But I still track!

What are your biggest tips for people that are trying to maintain their weight loss?

Make it a lifestyle, exercise, track your foods, and attend your meetings!!

Is there anything else you want to tell us?

I just got back from BLS (Basic Leader Skills) training to be a new Weight Watchers leader and looking forward to my new  journey!!!
