Meals On Wheels

My new assignment at church has me coordinating routes for Meals On Wheels. This is the first time I have worked with this organization and it has definitely been an eye opening experience.  So much of my time and thoughts in my life revolve around food… with Weight Watchers, counting points, using dietSNAPS, and healthy living blogs! The thought of senior citizens not having food to eat is really sad. I’m grateful for programs like this that are available to help them stay healthy and comfortable!

Meals on Wheels is a home delivered meal program for seniors with limited mobility. Each meal includes an entree, two 1/2-cup servings of fruit or vegetables, bread, milk and whole fruit or dessert.

Eligibility: This service is available to homebound individuals 60 years old and older and spouses of current service recipients.

Today’s Fire Bites:
Oatmeal W/ Frozen Raspberries – 4 pts

Enjoyed a great Weight Watchers meeting today! It was great to have Karen back as our leader. Then went to help out with a Meals On Wheels route.

Zone Bar – 5 pts

McDonald’s Salad – 9 pts

Banana Peanut Butter Soft Serve – 2 pts

Cereal – 3 pts

Turkey Chili Over Spaghetti Squash – 5 pts

Whey Protein Fruit Smoothie – 2 pts

And I ended the day with 30 minutes on the elliptical machine at the gym. (+5) I feel like this week has flown by because I’ve had a lot going on!  I seriously can’t believe it’s time for Halloween and the holidays!!!  Crazy-ness!  Tomorrow night is our Trunk-Or-Treat at the church… gotta make a plan for my weekend…
