Merry Christmas EVE from CO! ;)

breakfast before heading out on our ‘date’ – 3

My hubby took me on a date this morning SNOWSHOEING!!! It was sooooo much fun!!!! We rented our snowshoes  and trekking poles from a cool little place down the road and they told us to head out to Bear Lake for a quick and easy showshoeing trip since this was our first time ever snowshoeing –  and it was such a cool experience!!! We love hiking so being able to hike in the snow was sooo cool!!!  Outdoor activities like this make me wish I lived closer to the mountains and places where we can do these activities more often!!  oh well, guess that means we will just have to vacation more…..?!?!  😉

on the trail

had a ‘few’ steep inclines to trek up

LOVIN it!!!!!

awwww……C {hearts} C  😉

We had our ZoneBar snacks (-5) at our turn around point at Emerald Lake. We were at 10,000ft elevation and it was a gorgeous frozen over lake at the base of the mountains so it looked like we were in a ‘bowl’…….it was sooo surreal! Frustrating that pictures just do.not.do.it.justice!!!   A family that hiked up as we were eating our snack was from Corpus Christi, Texas!!!!!!  We have heard there are a TON of Texans in town vacationing right now.

we did it!!  3.4 miles round trip in about 2 hours. At this trailhead you start out at about 9400ft and climb to 10,000ft in the first 1.8 miles. The volunteer park ranger said that it was equivalent to climbing 60 flights of stairs….but in the snow and at elevation!   We definitely worked up a sweat going up! Going down was MUCH easier! 😉

grabbed some chili w/ turkey squash as we headed out the door to our next adventure……… -4

Taylor’s teacher is here vacationing as well and invited us up to their vacation home to play and sled!

They had to pick us up at the bottom of their driveway cause you have to have 4×4 and studded tires to get up to their house.

the kids had fun playing ping pong and playin go their guitars

they had LOTS of fun sledding down their driveway!

Gabe even was brave and loved going down the ‘little’ driveway hill ALL by hisself!!!!

they have GORGEOUS views from their house…….this is Long Peak.

stopped by the grocery store on the way  back for a couple things and needed a ‘treat’ 😉 – 6

I made baked potato soup for dinner – 1 cup with the fix ins’ – 10

the boys making the most of their vacation and just chilllaxin 😉

looked up a High Altitude chocolate chip cookies recipe to make Santa’s cookies for him tonight……had a couple bites of cookie dough……..they turned out great!!!!

Jayde was all over it setting up the plate to leave the jolly old man –  cookies, milk  with a striped straw and of course a letter!  😉 Gabe had to draw him a picture before he went to bed as well.  Stay tuned for a fun giveaway soon!!!!!

the Christmas tree is lit and “the stockings are hung by the chimney with care…..Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!!!!”  )

About Carman

36 year old military wife of 18 years and stay at home mom to 4 incredible kids (3 girls ages 17, 11, 11 and our son is 6). After my 4th, and final baby, I decided I wanted to be more active, healthier, happier, and to be an example to my kids. I joined Weight Watchers and started using the Points Plus program to learn portion control, moderation, and develop healthier habits. I also used the dietSNAPS app to track my meals and it was such a life changer for me to literally *see* what I was putting in my body! Cyndi, Lexy and I created this blog to be accountability partners and that has been a huge key to this journey! I love to cook and I love converting my favorite recipes into a healthier version for my family to enjoy! I love the after effects of exercising :) I love challenging myself to fitness goals to change things up and in doing so I have run numerous 5K/10K's, several half marathons, one full 26.2 marathon, and a Tough Mudder. I love circuit training, weight training, and running sprints. My goal is to inspire others to take their health seriously, and to show how small changes can lead to big results.
