No Serious Regrets

I had such a great weekend. I had the opportunity to attend a women’s retreat in a lovely beach house in Galveston. It was so nice to be surrounded by wonderful women with such strong testimonies of our Savior Jesus Christ. The theme for the weekend was:

No Regrets! Believe, Hope, and Endure

“May we live so that when that final summons is heard, we may have no serious regrets, no unfinished business, but will be able to say with the Apostle Paul, ‘I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.'” (2 Timothy 4:7)

-Thomas Monson October 2001 General Conference

*30 minute Muscle Blast class followed by 20 minutes on the bike*

*Went running with the girls at the beach- approximately 45 mins*

Carman and I presented a lesson on Hope. I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach this class because I learned so much myself.

We talked about the fact that we have the power to choose our thoughts. We referenced a quote from the movie “Eat, Pray, Love”…

This quote takes place while Elizabeth is at the Ashram in India and she met Richard from Texas.. She is struggling with her focus during meditation because she cannot stop thinking about her failed relationship with her ex-husband. She broods constantly about a couple circumstances in her life.

“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That’s the only thing you should be trying to control.”

Here is a copy of the hand out we put together… This is an awesome quote:

About Lexy

40 years old, "stay at home mom" to 2 boys (ages 16 and 14), wife to a chiropractic kinesiologist! I love blogging and learning new ideas. I follow the Weight Watchers Points Plus program and enjoy working out. I have run 2 full 26.2 mile marathons and 3 half marathons... and many 10k and 5k's. I love taking BodyPump classes and lifting weights. Working out has always been fun for me, but I struggle with eating healthy. Blogging has introduced me to a world of healthy eaters... When I first started WW... I just wanted someone to tell me what to eat! I didn't like cooking and I am not the kind of person that can just throw things together. There are tons of ideas out there and I love finding new and fun ones that I feel like I am capable of making myself!

Thanks for your blog today. It was exactly what I needed to hear. Just when I felt I had no hope I read this. I need a retreat like this to help me turn the corner. You are so blessed.

Thanks so much Amy! I’m so glad that you got something out of it… I was a little nervous to post it, but I feel better that it helped. :)

I loved it! You and Carman seem to have the best attitude about everything. It inspires me to try to do better for a little while at least. It just leaves me too quick. ; )
