40 pounds lost

Happy 40 pounds not on my body day!!

So yesterday was a big day and I wanted to blog about it, but it was a busy Friday the 13th. Yesterday was weigh-in day and with a 2.2 pound loss, it took me to a total of 41.3 pounds lost since Cruz was born 15 weeks ago.  I am now 10.7 pounds from my goal!  I was so excited to hit the 40 pound mark that I bought myself a present…

(yes they are magenta and pay no attention to the P90X bruise on my shin, or the fact that I’m wearing the shoes in bed and most likely don’t have pants on)

These are the Nike ‘Free Run+ 3′ purchased at my favorite store…Nordstrom!!  They have a million colors and a few other different styles on their Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!!!!  These are the best tennis shoes in the world.  They are lightweight, comfy and cushy, and super cute…what more could you ask for????

Progress Chart

My friend Heidi (you will remember from Tuesdays with Heidi) and I were able to hang out a couple times this week and talked a lot about weighing yourself, when to do it, how often, and what’s a good amount to lose each week.  First of all I think a lot of people have totally wrong ideas about what a normal, healthy amount of weight to lose each week is.  I know I did.  I always thought that I could drop a bunch of weight fast and if I was only losing 1 pound something wasn’t working.  Heidi has had concerns because she goes down, then up, then down further, then up, then down further, and she’s discouraged by the inconsistency.  So I asked her when her weigh-in day was and she said she weighed herself once a day.  I told her that was her first problem and suggested she pick one day per week to weigh-in and preferably on Friday or Saturday so she could enjoy the weekend.  Back in June I sent her a text of a quote I had read…

So 4 days later this was her response…

I think back to a year ago when I was counting my points, working out twice a day, and not losing a pound.  It was so frustrating.  I don’t know why the weight seems to literally be falling off me right now.  I mean I know I am working hard at my workouts, trying to stay within my daily food points, and drinking my Body by Vi shakes, but I honestly think the MAIN reason why it’s finally working is because I’m not stressed about it.  I’m taking my time, enjoying the process, challenging myself but also rewarding myself.  Don’t stress, be patient!

Fire Bites…

Thursday, Heidi and I took the kids to a bouncy house.  I was not prepared to be there for 4 hours!  So after only having eaten a Vi shake, 1/2 a balance bar, an apple, 4 migraine pills, and a coke zero, I was literally shaking by the time we got home.  I made myself a turkey and avocado sandwich w/carrots to eat before my 90 minute hot yoga class.  I put a picture of side crow pose because I attempted it during class…let’s just say I definitely didn’t look like that chick!

Friday the 13th we met my sister and her kids at the Utah Natural History museum.  It is seriously such a cool place and the kids love it.  Poor Grace broke her wrist when she fell off her bike last weekend, but she gets to wear a sweet orange cast!  We got lunch at Corner Bakery after.  Came back up to Park City and I took Cole and Cruz to the park.  The weather was kind of spooky, overcast and a little windy, but the temperature was perfect.  Eventually it started raining so we had to head home.  As we were about to leave to go out to dinner later that night, the power went out.  We thought maybe it was just our area, but all of Park City was out so we came back home and whipped up an old favorite Tzatziki Chicken.  We had dinner by candlelight and the boys got baths by flashlight.  I took a picture of my mom and dad on their iPad’s and iPhones because apparently we can do just fine without power!

Today was another rainy overcast day.  I tried to get my P90X2 Back and Base video done early so I could help my dad with some stuff.  He taught he how to use a socket thingy (ha I still don’t know what the tool is called) to unscrew bolts in a bed we were taking down.  It’s actually surprisingly easy, so next time you think your man is all skilled with his tools, just know it’s not that hard!  I had the best salad for lunch, it was a warm goat cheese salad that had spring mix, goat cheese, pears, tomatoes, and I added chicken.  It was super yummy!  My friend Taryn had her baby yesterday so we went to the hospital to meet him.  He still doesn’t have a name, so for now he’s Baby Lebell!  He is such a cutie.  I can’t believe how time has flown and how big Cruz is now.  The cousin boys got to have a sleepover at Aunt Sherilynn’s tonight and my mom took Cruz home with her so I could go to dinner with Heidi.  We had time to get pedicures before, which I desperately needed.  I got the shellac nail polish for the first time in hopes that it will last a long time cause I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get a pedi again.  Then Heidi and I went to Bombay House for some delicious Indian food.  We were both so hungry that I don’t remember much conversation once the food arrived 😉  She refuses to pose for pictures so I had to take a bunch to try and get a good one.

Lexy and Carman are living it up in Miami at the ViSalus conference Vitality!!  I’m so jealous I wasn’t able to join them, but am looking forward to all the fun 90-Day Challenge updates they’ll bring back.  Next Tuesday is day 30 of our 90-day challenge…how is everyone else doing on your challenges??

Can I just sleep for the next 6 weeks?

I’ve been soooo tired lately.  By the end of the day I don’t want to do anything but lay on the couch and watch TV or go to bed.  So sorry I’ve been a slacker!

Tuesday…

Breakfast: protein pancake and fruit

Mom took Cole to the rec center to play and I was able to catch up on my blogging and do some yoga.  30 minutes of the Rodney Yee Power Yoga for Flexibility.  This is my favorite yoga DVD, click here to check it out.  Unlike the prenatal yoga DVD, I actually DO feel rejuvenated after doing this DVD.  I met up with mom and Cole at Kneader’s for lunch.

Lunch:  turkey and avocado panini (wheat bread, turkey, provolone cheese, avocado, spinach, tomato, onion)  This was the most delicious sandwich ever!!  I ate half along with a few chips and a couple bites of a delicious double fudge brownie.

Took Cole to swimming and then to Taekwondo.

Snack: apple

Wednesday…

Pre-workout: the usual

Hardcore spin teacher more than made up for my crappy Monday class.

Post-workout: protein pancake and green greek smoothie

Did some cleaning and worked with my CPA (my dad) on our taxes.  Then headed to the hospital for my volunteer shift.

Lunch: leftover Kneader’s sandwich

I picked Cole up from school and we headed down to my sister’s house for a cousin sleepover.  He was so excited!   I hung out at my sister’s until Keller’s flight got in.  She made a really yummy pasta with squash, zucchini, spinach and artichoke dip, and feta cheese.

I got to the airport just as Keller landed (PS I don’t think I mentioned that he went to Austin for a quick job that came up last minute).  It worked out great cause he was able to go to our storage unit and get some baby stuff that I didn’t think to bring when we first moved out here.  Essentials like the car seat and bottles.  So he had to check the car seat which was perfectly fine when he left Austin and snapped in half by the time it got to Salt Lake.  An hour later we had no car seat and a $100 voucher for Southwest airlines.  I guess you sign a waiver when you check something like a carseat that says they are not responsible for any damages so technically they don’t have to do anything which I think is total crap but whatever.  Luckily the lady helping Keller was nice enough to offer the voucher which was more than the money they would have given us for the 5 year old carseat.  SO I guess I should be grateful.

Thursday…

We got to sleep in cause the man child was at his sleepover.

We came home and got ready to go pick up the boys.  Took all 3 of them (Cole, J, and Will) out to lunch to Corner Bakery.  It was hilarious cause all 3 of them wanted soup, chips, and pickles…random much?

Lunch: 1/2 veggie panini, a few chips, and bites of a cinnamon roll we all shared

Our plan was to take the boys sledding but the snow has been so sparse we had trouble finding a hill that had a good amount of snow.  We finally did find one but the bottom of the hill was pretty close to a road, so Uncle Keller had to stand at the bottom and keep them from sledding onto it.

The boys were so tired after sledding we decided to skip taekwondo.  We headed home and had dinner.

Dinner: Michelle’s recipe Costco meatballs with Trader Joe’s spaghetti sauce, salad, and some garlic toast

Headed to Idaho tomorrow for the weekend to see our (FLF girls) sister-in-law Shea(Keller’s sister).  I’ll do my best to try and post while I’m there, but no promises. 😉

 

Zoo Lights

Can’t sleep, must post

So I woke up today at 5:45am for no reason and my mind starting wondering which prevented me from being able to go back to sleep.  I’m going to pay for it later!  But what better time to post to the blog!!  Not much to report for the past couple days.  Nothing like the Houston Ice Road Truckers.  Bless their hearts!

WEDNESDAY:

First day back from Cali and was in desperate need of some spin.  Kicked my butt and I loved it. After class, I went up to the fitness studio to do my 50 burpees on the Bosu.  I took a video of how I do them, but who knows if it will ever make it up here, cause #1 it’s a video of a pregnant me in workout clothes doing a burpee, and #2 I really have no idea how to put it up here 😉  I knocked out 50 in 2:33 then emailed my husband to tease him that a pregnant chick beat his time.

Post-workout:

Papa took Cole to play at an indoor playscape cause I was supposed to be studying for my CNA state test scheduled for Thursday, but the test got canceled and so I took a nap instead.  It was lovely.

Snack: nuts and cranberries mix from Trader Joe’s (so glad they come in individualized packets cause I never knew how many points I was eating of this stuff!)

Dinner: Amylu chicken burgers, 1/2 C Trader Joe’s white mac and cheese, and green beans

Headed to bed early and finished my book I was reading.

THURSDAY:

Woke up to a 4-year-old in my bed who kept telling me he was sweaty.  It wasn’t sweat!  Can I please get through one week of not having to clean up bodily functions…oh wait…no I can’t because I’m about to have a BABY!!!

Pre-workout: Nature’s Path GF waffle w/pb

Went to buns and guns class.  We were working on the gliders again and so this time I tried to be more conscience of the core work to prevent another sore muscle/gas feeling of going into labor.

Post-workout: Muscle Milk Light

Took Cole to the Rec Center after to play then we met up with Papa to have lunch at Kneader’s.  I was super hungry by the time we ate which was not such a good thing because even though I only took a picture of my tuna sandwich (which I ate half of), I failed to picture the cinnamon roll that I ate 2/3 of, some chips that I lost count of how many I ate, oh and Cole’s soup and foccacia bread which I helped myself to and ending up eating his entire piece of bread (which wasn’t like a small little sample!).  Oh well…at least it was all delicious!

We came home and took naps before going down to Salt Lake to meet up with my sister and niece and nephews to go to the Hogle Zoo Lights.  Luckily we got there when we did because by the time we left not only was it freezing cold, but it was packed with people.  Little Will told us next time he doesn’t want to come (they were a little cold by the end).

Grabbed some dinner at Corner Bakery.  Michelle and I had breakfast for dinner and it was delicious!

Then we dropped the kids off and Michelle and I went to see the movie New Year’s Eve.  No picture of the many red vines I munched on while at the movie.  It was an ok movie.  It could have been better!

 

Caramel 7

A busy busy day!!  I had to grab something quick for breakfast so I went for a Van’s gluten-free waffle w/peanut butter and oj 8pts

Started off with a dr. appt for my 16 week check-up…listened to the heart beat, it’s still in there 😉  Two more weeks until I can find out the sex.

Then headed to our neighbor Kathy’s for a lesson on making caramels. The recipe is a family legacy and super secret, but Kathy allowed me to take some pictures for the blog!

Let’s just say this is not a Weight Watcher’s approved recipe!!

I was put on the very important job of cutting the marshmallows in half.

I promise this is the most delicious caramel you have ever had.

We rolled the marshmallows around in the delicious gooeyness and placed them to cool.

After they cooled we wrapped them in wax paper to mold them into shape.

I had to run to meet a friend for lunch at Corner Bakery.  Waited way too long to eat and picked a place way too delicious.  My appetizer was this!

Lunch was half a veggie panini w/a cup of tomato basil soup…based on the website nutrition facts, all together 31 points

My friend and I ended up talking for almost two hours so I didn’t have much time until I had to pick up Cole.

After school snack: peaches while making a “when does daddy get home calendar”

Took me an hour!  It’s color-coded by month…orange-Oct, yellow-Nov, red-Dec, blue-Jan.  It was so long I had to hang it over the top of the window.

Cole took off the first day tonight and loved it!

Mom made chicken piccata for dinner…it was sooo yummy!!

Dinner: chicken, orzo  pasta, spinach, fruit  6pts

Got hungry while updating all my posts…so I grabbed a Chobani sprinkled with some Whole Foods granola  4pts

 

Deja Vu….weekend recap

Seems like it was a long weekend…looking at Lexy and Carman’s posts make me long for some normalcy in my life.  I wish I had my own house, my own food, and cooked all my own meals so that I can get back to my old habits and food choices.  It’s harder here.  I have more people around me that affect food decisions, we have friends we haven’t seen forever that we are going out to dinner with a lot, and no one in my family is on or will ever go on WW, so I don’t have the support that I did in Texas.  Plus I’m pregnant so that adds a whole other set of stresses and things I can’t control.  I try to think back to the last time I lived with my parents which ironically was the last time I was pregnant and my husband was away with the beginning of his Army training.  The difference was I had a full-time job, no one but me to take care of, and my parents didn’t even really live here cause my dad worked out of state.  So it wasn’t my house, but it was because I was alone most of the time.  So now I have to figure how I can get a balance of what I had last time I lived here and what I had when we lived in Texas and make it work.

RECAP

FRIDAY we finished up some last minute errands that Keller needed to get done before leaving.  We dropped Cole off at school and then went out to breakfast to a local’s favorite called the “No Worries Cafe”.

Breakfast: “The Hack Attack”- scrambled egg whites (my addition) with ham, spinach, onions, peppers, tomato’s, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese on top of hash browns with a side of sourdough toast and oj

Headed to Salt Lake to do our errands and then met my parents to see the movie 50/50 (PS really good movie, vulgar conversations-but what do you expect it’s Seth Rogen- if you could take all that crap out it was one of the best movies I’ve seen in awhile).  We didn’t have time to have lunch so we stopped and grabbed a tuna sandwich from one of my favorite bakeries Kneaders, and snuck them into the movie.  Good thing there weren’t a lot of people in the theater because we didn’t even think of the smell of a TUNA sandwich…oh well, they were delicious!  Also had some of their parmesan chips which are like kettle chips except with parmesan cheese…oh and I might have had a cinnamon roll…AHHH I blame Keller.

After the movie we picked Cole up from school and came home and Keller and Cole had bike races down my parents driveway.  For dinner Keller picked a favorite restaurant of ours up here in PC called Maxwells.  They have delicious pizza, french fries, salads, and cookizzas (which is cooke dough baked in a mini pizza pan).

SATURDAY- no pics today, phone was dead

We met my sister’s family at Corner Bakery for breakfast so that they could see Keller before he left.

Breakfast: Farmer’s scramble w/egg whites and wheat toast

Took Keller to the airport, no crying involved, we’re used to this!  Headed to the mall to do some errands for my sister and mom.  Cole spotted a Chipotle and started going crazy asking for rice and beans so I got a chicken burrito bowl rice, beans, chicken, peppers, lettuce, side a guac and we shared.  Went back to my parents and everyone took a nap.  Cole was so tired from the long month and a half we’ve had he slept for 3.5 hours.  Watched a little of the BYU game, had some leftovers, watched a movie with Cole and then went back to bed. A pretty low key day.

SUNDAY

Breakfast: gluten-free waffle w/1TB PB and a cup of oj  8

Went to church.  I don’t know what my deal is lately at church, but I get soooo hungry like an hour after I get there.  So I’ve learned to bring snacks.

Snack: 3

Home from church, grabbed a Chobani yogurt (3) before heading out to go on a hike with a friend.  The colors are getting so gorgeous here and the temp was perfect!

I don’t know what my deal was though, I fell twice on the trail coming down, the first one I caught myself on my bum, the second I wasn’t so lucky and had to catch myself with my hands and knees.  My pride was hurt more than anything, just a few scrapes and bruises.  Came home and took a bath.  I was starting to feel the effects of falling.

Lunch: wheat bread, turkey, muenster cheese broiled w/avocado and a peach and some Sun Chips, but Cole ate most of them 12

I thought that was going to be my dinner which is why it was so high in points, but I forgot we were going down to my sister’s house for chili.

Dinner: salad, fruit, and a small serving of turkey chili 5

Dessert: mom made this amazing apple crumble, had a small serving w/ice cream and then another 😉

Came home and went to bed at 9!  Hoping for a great week ahead with a little bit of detoxing!
