Loved the Bus!!

Back to School Time!

It is back to school time for our kiddos and I have never been more ready to get back on a schedule so I can get back on TRACK!!  For us it is so hard to be on a schedule during the summer and I need to create a summer schedule next year so it doesn’t get so insane and it can be more enjoyable.

Our Back to School morning –

We have a 10th grader, 4th graders and our little man is in Pre-K. :)

Here is a little video for ya – I haven’t done a video in a longggg time and have had a serious OCD/paranoia about doing one…..I had a thought to just do it while waiting for Gabe to get home from school off the bus. So lucky for y’all I got out of my comfort zone and just did it!! What cha see is what ya get! ha!  :)

After School –

Loved his first ever bus ride!!!

Didn’t waste any time chillaxin!!!!

The girls created a school journal with their 6 month old baby picture……..

WHERE has the TIME gone??!!!!!

I’m excited to get back to my normal habits and routines that made me happier and my life flow so much easier. Some examples are:

  • Getting in my early morning workouts by 5:30am
  • Eating every 3 hours consistently
  • Focusing on my meals and snacks and centering them around my 2 awesome Vi-shakes that I LOVE!
  • Get back to cooking and eating dinner every night at the table as a family
  • Doing my FlyLady routines so my house will stay under control and be more peaceful and relaxing
  • Focus on getting in my water – I am still horrible at this!!!
  • Make better use of my evenings and quality family time
  • Attending my weekly WW meetings again for the accountable weigh ins, the meeting reminders of the healthy habits I created last year that helped me maintain weight loss for over a year, and to continue to get ideas.
  • Posting everyday here on FireLitesFire to get me back to being accountable
  • Faithfully using my dietSNAPS app to track everything I eat and drink

*One main thing I learned looking back over this summer is that I need to go back to the habits that I created because  of how successful they were for me. I have to remind myself NOT to try to reinvent the wheel. I just need to keep it simple and go back to the basics of what I did before……because obviously it worked!!! :)  I love that I can go back to those familiar habits and then just keep building new healthy habits on top of those. That’s how we become our BEST selves. :)

My newest habit and goal

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

Is everyone having an AWESOME summer?!  I know our summer has been insanely busy and chaotic – not AT ALL what I had envisioned when school was getting out in May. I had dreamed of days at the beach and pool with my kids and lazy days watching movies and just hanging out relaxing. We have probably gotten to do those things counted on one hand. Its crazy how life sometimes changes and doesn’t go as we plan – even if those changes are awesome and exciting! :)

So if you can imagine my summer not going as I had planned then you can imagine how much harder it has been to stay on ‘track’??? Super duper hard!  I still track daily with my favorite iPhone tracker- my dietSNAPS app to stay mindful of what I am eating but I haven’t been keeping close track of my daily WW points target. Thankfully I have maintained the same weight all through this summer craziness!  Taking a step out of the big picture has helped me realize this………

(via everything-inspiring)

I also realized that it is because I have changed and created healthy habits over the last 17 months and that I am going to do awesome as long as I maintain those habits. I am so thankful that we came across the 90 Day Challenge and the AWESOME Vi-shakes because that has helped me get that nutrition in even if I haven’t been perfect so I can maintain and have energy. You can check out my FaceBook 90 Day Challenge page HERE.

Just a little over 2 1/2 weeks left till school starts!!!!!  I’m excited and nervous at the same time cause I have SOOO MUCH to still to do to get my kids and house ready before then!!!!

Lots more to update……so stay tuned!!!!! :)

Lite Your Fire – Join us in a 90 Day Challenge!!!!!

We just recently found out about a 90 Day Challenge – and we, the FLF girls are excited to jump in!!! Who doesn’t LOVE a CHALLENGE?!  We sure do – especially when it is related to health and fitness. We are excited for this opportunity because we all still have our own specific goals that we want to accomplish. We know as well as anyone that if you don’t keep setting goals for yourself then it is MUCH easier to fall off track. We love that this challenge is for everyone; young, old, middle-aged, young at heart, sedentary, elite athlete, runner, walker, crawler (haha! :) ), weight lifter, couch potato, just starting to get healthy, or have been a health nut all your life……the list goes on and on!!!

Check out www.overview.visalus.com to learn more about the Challenge!

We plan on starting our 90 day challenge on Monday, June 18th. We would LOVE for as many of you to join us and start with us – or you can start it at anytime you are ready!!! The most important thing – is that you START!! :)

The best part about this Challenge is that it fits perfectly into the lifestyle and habits we have already created. We will still be using WeightWatchers to keep our food in check and using our dietSNAPS app to track our food. This Challenge just gives us a new focus and movitation!  And of course, accountability by doing it together!!!

We each have our own unique GOALS. We know that its only a wish and not a goal unless its written down so we are writing down our goals here to share with you!!!

Carman –

I have been able to maintain my WW goal weight of 140lbs for a YEAR now!!!! (That is living proof that WW’s and dietSNAPS REALLY does work when applied DAILY!!!) :)  I am so excited for this 90 Day Challenge – I want to become my best lean & fit self.  :) I have enjoyed the clothing size I am now and have been super happy with the success I have had, especially with having been able to maintain for so long.  My 90 day goal is a new focus to see how lean I can naturally get. I had my body fat composition test done about a month ago and I am using that as a new focus instead of scale weight. The scale can get so frustrating and I don’t like that it doesn’t tell me how much lean muscle I have – and as I lose these last few pounds if I’m loosing muscle or fat.  My body fat right now is 23% – which is in the ‘Fitness’ range. (see chart below)  My goal is to be in the Athlete range around 18% in 90 days. I know that in doing this I will become stronger as well! I am doing the Tough Mudder in October with an awesome team and I want to be in the best shape of my life for that! I know this 90 day challenge will get me there!!!  Let’s do THIS!!!!!

Body Fat Chart
Classification Women Men
Essential Fat 10-12% 2-4%
Athletes 14-20% 6-13%
Fitness 21-24% 14-17%
Acceptable 25-31% 18-25%
Obese 32% plus 25% plus

Lexy –

For the longest time, my goal has been to weigh 125 lbs. (I have been maintaining my Weight Watchers goal at 137 lbs for a year) At a recent health expo I had the chance to meet and visit with several fitness models. They recommended I drop the idea of my weight and focus more on body fat percentage. After thinking about this I have decided to take their advice. I met with a trainer today and set some new goals. Currently, my body fat is 25%. For my 90-Day Challenge… My goal is to have between 19 & 20% body fat. That being said… I’m not sure how that will affect the scale reading. I have never used body fat as a measurement. This is going to be very difficult for me because I’m used to weighing myself on the scale on a regular basis. I am signed up to compete in the Tough Mudder of Austin in October… I am looking forward to being up for the challenge!

Ultimately, this is my dream body type!

Cyndi –

For my 90-day challenge I’m going to continue and complete the p90X2 fitness program as well as continue to count my points on the Weight Watchers program to reach my goal weight of 150lbs.  I’m currently at 168.9.  I’m excited to be able to focus on these 2 goals for the next 90 days.  This challenge is perfect timing for me because after completing my goals, not only will I be looking hot for my husband after a 4 month separation, but maybe for the first time in my life, I will feel confident in a bathing suit on the beaches of Maui in October!

Health Magazine “I Did It” Photo Shoot :)

I have had a really busy and fun weekend! The Health Magazine photo shoot has come and gone. It was so much fun!! It still seems unreal to me that it actually happened. Having that experience on Friday made me really appreciate my weight loss journey. I can’t believe that just 6 or 7 years ago, I was in a totally different place and mindset. Back then, I felt so miserable, uncomfortable, & defeated…  I never thought it would *really* be possible to reach my goals. I remember very clearly how I felt and I am so glad that I was able to implement small changes over time that have now made such a big difference in my life.

2006 to 2012!

Saturday, June 9th was my one year mark for actually reaching my goal of being UNDER 140 lbs! For the last year, I have been able to maintain my weight between 135 and 138 lbs! That still shocks me!!!

I love the TargetWeight app for keeping track of my weight loss! The balloons were such a fun surprise that day! :)

It really is a slow and steady process….

I put together this little video clip of the photo shoot! I’m so thankful to Torry, the boys, my mom and Carman for being there with me! Their support made me feel so much more comfortable!! I’m also grateful for all of the pictures and videos that they took for me!! It was definitely a day I will never forget!!

Torry was laughing at me because I didn’t want to wash my face!! I have never had my make-up done professionally before!!

I even went running the next morning with my make-up still on! Hahaha!!! *I know, I’m gross!*

I wanted to thank Misty from ThePerfectFace and Phoebe of PhoebeRourke.com for being so cool during the photo shoot! They were awesome and made me feel very comfortable. I had such a great time working with them!! Be sure to click on their sites and check them out! Also, I wanted to say THANK YOU to Niki at Lululemon for helping me pick out clothes!! And a huge THANKS to Ashley at Tootsies for providing me with even more awesome clothes! I wish I would have been able to wear all of the outfits that I brought! It was definitely fun to be able to try on so many awesome outfits this week!

The article should be coming out in the October issue of Health Magazine… I’ll keep you posted if anything changes! :)

To function or not to function…that is the question!

I choose my featured image picture because it portrays perfectly my current state of being…plus Torry (Lexy’s husband) thought it was really scary 😉  Then they all tried to copy my face.

Week 2 and 3 as a mother of 2.  There was lots of exhaustion, several naps, one night of my awesome hubby letting me sleep through the night in the upstairs bedroom, 2 walks up the hill (1 that included Keller in body armor and lots of lunges and squats), 1 run on the treadmill (1 day following regretting this run), 1 workout with Keller’s TRX bands, one date night, Easter Sunday, Keller starting a training and being gone all day every day, field trips to the Hill Aerospace museum and the Natural History museum, and the beginning of Crystal Light Energy helping me make it through the day.

Weight Loss and Exercise:

I’m making Friday my weigh in days until I can get to my meetings.  There are Thursday night meetings up here in Park City that I need to start attending, but it hasn’t worked out with schedules yet.  My total weight gain for my pregnancy was 28 pounds, according to my first weigh-in at my Dr’s office, 33 pounds if you count from my last WW weigh in.  So on 3/30 I was down 12.5 pounds, on 4/6 I was down another 8.2, and today I was down another 3.5 for a total loss of 24.2lbs.  I have been semi counting points.  I really have not been that hungry, so I’m pretty sure I’m staying within my daily allotted.  I’m trying to ease back into my workouts because I do feel better on the days that I get to workout, but most days I’m so tired the thought of exuding enough energy to put my tennis shoes on is overwhelming!  I’m one of those people that DO NOT function well without sleep.  So getting back to a normal daily routine is going to take a little bit, but I’m taking it one day at a time.

The best part of my week was doing this walk with Keller.  We walked up the hill and every 5 minutes stopped and did 20 walking lunges.  At the top I did 3 sets of 10 push-ups and on the way down we did 20 squats every 5 minutes.  I was definitely sore the next day!

This was my “It Begins” face.

I didn’t take a picture of my…”oh crap that really hurt” face.

Food and Points:

I’m still using my dietSNAPS app and taking pictures of everything I eat.  I haven’t gone back to entering my food in the WW app yet.  And as for posting everything I eat, I don’t think anyone wants to look at a post with 2 weeks worth of food pics so for now I will take it one day at a time.  I definitely feel like I’m not as hungry and I’m trying to take advantage of that feeling cause I’m sure it won’t last long.  It’s like I’m too tired to care about eating.  I’m trying to stay away from crap, most of my meals are the usual protein pancakes, green greek smoothies, greek yogurts, mint cookie Balance Bars, fruit, and just trying to stick with veggies and protein for dinner with the occasional indulgences.

Oh and of course, the Coke Zero’s…Mommy’s milk and Cruz’s milk!

Last Saturday night we took family pictures in a beautiful orchard in Kaysville.  It was a little chilly, but the boys were troopers and I can’t wait to see how the pictures turned out!  We stopped at In-N-Out for dinner on the way home.   We were all so hungry and I enjoyed every bite of my hamburger and shared some of Cole’s fries and chocolate shake while he covered his face with stickers.  Not sure why he loves to put stickers there.  Good thing he doesn’t have a hairy face!

We had a great Easter.  Cole loved dyeing eggs in Kool aid.  Thank you Pinterest!

Easter Sunday was probably my best day.  I think it was because I had finally caught up on a little sleep.  We took pics on the porch after church, poor Cruz just looks like he’s squished!

And then enjoyed the beautiful weather with a picnic lunch outside.

This week the best days were when we went on field trips with our cousins.  It usually ends up taking forever, but I love being able to get out of the house.  I’m trying to get my vitamin D and endorphins everyday, cause otherwise I end up feeling totally crappy and even more tired.

This was Monday at the Hill Aerospace Museum.

And this was Thursday at the Utah Natural History Museum.

All in all I’m doing my best and that’s all I can do.  I’m trying not to stress about things I can’t control (which is super hard for me).  We have a lot going on in our lives right now and we seem to be in a constant state of chaos and change.  I hope one day I can feel like I have a normal life, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen anytime soon.  And I just have to say to all the moms out there especially to ones with multiple children close in age or to those who’s husbands are gone all the time or those who don’t live by family…so pretty much any mom out there…you are amazing!  Being a mom is hard work and any one who says different should be punched in the face :).  So here’s my salute to mom’s everywhere!
