Just Do It Even If You Suck

“Do Your Best and Forget the Rest”

The title of my post is Tony Horton’s (of P90X2) favorite saying.  I’ve had a couple friends texting me this week upset with themselves for bad food choices, or lack of motivation to exercise, etc.  We’ve all gone through this.  It happens at the beginning of our process, the intimidation of what seems like a huge feat to overcome.  It happens in the middle with plateaus or falling off the wagon.  And it happens at the end when trying to maintain and maybe we fall back into our old habits because we’ve become a little too relaxed in our efforts.  No matter where you are in your process just “do your best and forget the rest.”  Get on that scale on weigh-in day, own it, and move on!  Give yourself more credit because you are stronger than you think!

Speaking of P90X2…I started Phase 2 on Monday and holy crap, this crap is hard!  So after attempting to do pull-ups on my husband’s TRX bands for almost the entire first video, I got on my computer and ordered a pull-up bar and assist band.  I figure I’ve committed to completing this program, I better do it correctly!

Monday Fire Bites: 1 tsp PB (1), Body by Vi green greek smoothie (random sideways picture, too lazy to fix it) (3), chicken and raspberry salad (5), balance bar (5), Protein Pancake and another BBV smoothie (7).

Workout: Chest, Back, Balance and Ab Ripper

Tuesday I spent most of the day working on favors for my friend Taryn’s baby shower (pic in the bottom right hand corner).  I got the idea off Pinterest, but personalized it for Taryn.  She grew up in Chicago and loves Garrett’s popcorn, so since I don’t live in Chicago I got the next best thing, Costco’s version!!  It’s cheese popcorn mixed with caramel popcorn…gross you say???  TRY IT…only then will you be a believer!!

Tuesday FB’s: 1/2 banana and 1tsp PB (1), Body by Vi green greek smoothie (3), turkey and cheese melt w/veggies and FF ranch dip (8), steak fajita, 6 chips, guac, fruit, and a jicama, cucumber, mango salad (10 guesstimate), 1/2 tres leeches cake and 1/2 a homemade churro (6?)

Workout: Plyocide

Woke up Wednesday with a really sore back.  During my warm-up Tuesday in Plyocide I tweaked it when doing a twist move.  So I was kind of concerned about going to yoga, not sure if it would hurt or help.  I decided to go and just be really careful in the poses.  I felt really good during the class and my teacher told me to put ice on it as soon as I got home because the muscles would be inflamed from all the blood pumping during the class.  I’m not sure if it was the yoga or the ice or a combo of the both, but the pain was totally gone by the end of the day!!

Wednesday FB’s: 2 tsp PB(2), Body by Vi green greek smoothie (3), Mint Cookie Balance Bar (5), Trader Joe’s nuts and cranberries (6), BBQ’d chicken w/green beans and leftover pasta (10), Starburst Jelly Beans (4) and 2 Red Vines (2)

Workout: 75min Hot Yoga

Nothing too exciting happened today, I took a picture of my home gym that I’ve turned my parents family room into.  I got my pull-up bar and assist band today, however not only can I not find a doorway in my parents house that it will work in, my mother will not let me even if I could find one.  I think her specific words were…”over my dead body”…hello mother, phase 2 is only 3 more weeks and I need it!!  Waaaaaa…maybe I’ll have to do that video when she’s not home 😉  I also found out today that we finally have a house!  I’m very excited to get back to Austin, but sad to leave my family and friends in Utah.  It will be nice to have my own space again and feel like a grown-up!

Thursday FB’s: 1 tsp PB (1), BBVGGS (see above if you don’t know what that stands for!) (3), strawberry chicken salad (5), 2 Red Vines (2), peach, flank steak w/caprese salad, brown rice, and green beans (10)

Workout: Shoulders and Arms and Ab Ripper

Cruz

There aren’t enough hours in the day!

Anyone else feeling totally overwhelmed?  I know us FLF girls are.  I’m personally giving up precious minutes of sleep to do this post because I felt it was a little ridiculous that it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted.  So with a pile of unfolded laundry pushed over onto my husband’s side of the bed (who is not here), I will try to make this short and quick so I can try and get some sleep before my baby, who refuses to be sleep trained, wakes me up to feed him!

So where have I been the last month (23 days to be exact)? Uh, nowhere.  But, I did have my brother, his wife, and their 2 daughters staying with us for 2 1/2 weeks, so I blame them for me being too distracted to post.  It was so fun having them here.  Here are some highlights from their trip:

My niece was baptized in my sister Michelle’s pool.

It was such a cool and intimate family experience to have that I hope to also be able to do for my boys!

There was lots of eating out, so my brother could get all his Utah food fixes.

Went on a few hikes to burn off all the food we were eating.

Cole graduated from Preschool.

I finished my first phase of P90X2 and made my niece join in for one of my workouts.

Then almost killed her by making her a post-workout protein shake with SOY protein that she is apparently allergic to, no bueno!

They left to go back home on Father’s Day, boo, we’ll miss you!  Missed Daddy on Father’s Day, but got to spend the day with Papa.

Monday my Mom, Cole, Cruz, and I left for a trip to Disneyland.  We stopped in Vegas on the way down and stayed at The Trump Hotel again.  Cole had a blast in the bath tub!  I also started my 90-day challenge with the Body by Vi shakes with Lexy and Carman.  Since I was going out of town, I packed my shaker cup and shake powder and did the best I could.  My mom and I were really good with our food choices, as you’ll see in the pictures below, we really only had “junk food” once.  We packed healthy snacks like apples, bananas, carrots, celery, nuts, and Balance Bars.  When we ate out we choose chicken salads, Chipotle burrito bowls, veggies and hummus, egg white omelets, etc.  I brought my yoga mat, but was only able to do it Monday night after we got to the hotel.  The other days were too jam packed, but I’m pretty sure I burned a few calories walking all over Disneyland for 2 days!

We drove to Anaheim on Tuesday and checked into the Disneyland Hotel.  We gave Cole the choice of either going to the pool or going to the park and he chose the pool (he didn’t realize until the next day the choice he really made!).

We woke up early Wednesday to try to get into the park early to ride the Radiator Springs Racers ride in the new Cars Land.  We didn’t make it early enough and ended up going in with everyone else.  It didn’t matter though because Mommy was smart enough to go into the single rider line which was half the wait time as the regular line and we still ended up being able to ride together.  We met up with my friend Sarah and her cute boy Calum.  Sarah’s husband Cameron works as a manager in Flo’s V8 Cafe in Cars Land, so they know Disneyland in and out.  It was awesome to have her as our tour guide because we ended up going on tons of rides I wouldn’t have even thought to go on.  Plus she took us to the best places to eat so it was seriously like the best day.  We ended up staying out late to see the World of Color Water Show and just when I thought Cole was going to totally lose it with exhaustion he surprised me with a second wind and we didn’t get back to the hotel until 11pm.

Thursday morning I woke up early (with Cruz) and was waiting like a little kid for Cole to get up so we could go back to the park.  We rode a few more rides and then drove out to my Uncle Tom’s to get our teeth cleaned.  We stayed the night in Vegas again.

Drove home Friday, so glad to be home.  Talk about a long freaking week.  But oh was it soooo much fun and I’m so glad we were able to do it.  Headed straight for my Magic Bullet for a Green Vi Smoothie!

In case you were wondering, this is pretty much where Cruz was the entire trip…

I weighed myself on Saturday obviously because I couldn’t on my usual Friday.  I lost another 1.6 pounds for a total weight loss of 35 pounds in the last 3 months.  I’m super happy with my progress and I’m going to keep on keeping on!!

This weekend was chill and my menu’s consisted of Vi shakes, Balance Bars, Trader Joe’s nuts and cranberries mix, a chicken gyro in a Flatout bread, some WW oatmeal cookies, and delicious mahi mahi with mango salsa (I’ll post the recipe tomorrow).  I also got to go to hot yoga on Saturday and wore my heart rate monitor to see how many calories I burn.  It was over 700!!

It seems like the craziness never ends.  There is always something to be done.  I’m learning that I really have to prioritize what needs to be done and what can be put aside in order to not completely lose it.  I’m excited to keep on my 90 day challenge with the Body by Vi shakes and start Phase 2 of P90X2 tomorrow.  I will also be embarking on the adventure of finding a house in Austin and moving back within the next month.  Oh joy!  The fun never ends!

Whey Protein Fruit Smoothie

This is a very simple smoothie recipe. I have one almost everyday. It’s great for a healthy snack!

I use 1 cup of diet V8 Splash… my 2 favorite flavors are Berry Blend and Tropical Blend. I add 2 scoops of Standard Process Whey Pro Complete. Then I’ll add 1 cup of mixed frozen fruit.

I get this from my husband’s chiropractic office. From the Standard Process website… “Whey Pro Complete supports weight management, muscle tissue, immune function, and gastrointestinal health.” For more information on the product… check HERE. If anyone local would like to try it, let me know… :)

Blend it all together in the Magic Bullet! 30 seconds to a minute…

Who needs Jamba Juice?? 😉  This smoothie is 2 points plus!

Green smoothie

Welcome back green smoothie!

I forgot to update yesterday even though I swear I did…it was pretty uneventful, did my interval run 5min/walk 1min for 45min.  Since nothing eventful happened, I’m just going to post my “fire bites”.

Protein Pancake  5pts

WW oatmeal cookie  4pts

 Great Harvest veggie sandwich  10pts

Leftovers again for dinner…pork, pasta w/tomatos, salad, cantaloupe  12pts

Ended the day with an apple and 1TBSP peanut butter  3pts.

TODAY…I was super tired this morning cause a certain 4-y-o woke up at 2:45am and got in my bed and I couldn’t fall back asleep until 5.  Cole is obsessed with Eggo waffles, but unfortunately we ran out so today he decided he wanted cereal.  I offered to cook him some eggs too which he politely declined and then proceeded to eat mine!

Breakfast: 1C Nature’s Path Flax Plus cereal w/milk (I never count points for milk because I literally drain it out of each bite, I detest milk!), shared eggs w/Cole and berries.  5.5 pts

Took Cole over to the rec center to play on the inflatables.  He met 4 friends and they played super heroes for almost 2 hours.  Grabbed a snack on the way over.

We went home for some lunch and I was so hungry I couldn’t wait until I made my leftover taco and snacked on some of the Lavash and hummus from the other day  5pts.  Then we had some leftovers from Tuesdays w/Heidi.  I tried my taco with a low carb tortilla I picked up at the start.  It was eh…I prefer corn!

P.S. I forgot to give credit on Tuesday…I learned my chicken verde recipe from my sister Michelle, however she adds a few more ingredients and I’m just lazy 😉

And for dessert a delicious WW cookie…started with 1, ended with 3.  6pts

We were hanging out in Park City today waiting for an electrician to call and meet us at my sister’s house, but he never called.  Cole and I entertained ourselves with a tea party (his idea!) and it was apparently an Asian tea party cause I had to bow when he gave me my tea and when I gave it back.

We finally gave up waiting and headed down to Salt Lake.  Cole passed out before we even hit the freeway with his hood on and his hands in his pockets.

I had to go to Costco again to return some things and pick up a very important thing I kept forgetting to get.  I have been craving green smoothie’s like no other.  And even though I have a Magic Bullet in my storage unit in Austin…my mom doesn’t have one so HAPPY HALLOWEEN mom!!

I was so excited to have this especially after Cole begged me for a Costco hot dog and I ended up eating half.  I guess it’s a pregnant thing, I have no idea, but I have gone to Costco millions of times and gotten Cole a hot Grdog and haven’t touched it!  I usually end up throwing half of it away, but today for some reason it looked sooooo good!  And being that half a Costco hot dog is 8pts, I was thrilled to have the option of a green smoothie for dinner!! 😉  Welcome back green smoothie, welcome back!

Another recipe I credit to my sister Michelle.  This particular smoothie had:

1C water (I think I was only supposed to have 1/2C)

1/2 banana,

sliver of lemon

1C frozen mixed fruit

cup stuffed full of spinach
