Trigger Foods

What costume do you wear on Halloween? Do you become someone else? :)

What is a food that causes you to become someone else??  – trigger foods!!

*What is your trigger food?  Mine is chocolate chip cookies and chips with homemade salsa!! (I am becoming more of a snob when it comes to these two though – the more homemade and authentic the more I don’t have any self control! 😉 )

Remember – If you completely cut out your trigger food – you will binge & nothing else will satisfy you! So don’t deprive yourself or say your never gonna have it again. It will make you crazy! {I have learned this one from experience! Its not pretty!}

There is a BIG difference between an urge and a craving – we need to recognize that.

*Did you know: the average American consumes 31 teaspoons of added sugar per DAY ?!?!?!  6 teaspoons is the maximum daily amount recommended for American women by the American Heart Association.  wow!!! Let’s all take a closer look at our daily sugar intake! Don’t drink your sweets and watch your desserts!  Read The Truth About Sugar for more tips.

Tricks not treats – How can PointsPlus help you with your trigger foods?

-eat fresh fruit instead of sugary candy

-have WW snack bars or your fav bars handy for when those urges hit

-if you are going to eat a treat or satisfy a craving – PLAN for it! Its ok to eat it – just make it part of your plan so that its not a binge!

-something I noticed helps me a ton  is eating every 3 hours- it helps keep your blood sugar stable and the cravings at bay!

What to do with that Halloween candy laying around: Have the ‘Switch Witch’ come and switch it out for prizes for the kids or donate it somewhere!

Read this article The Tricks to Treats for more ideas on how to handle being around all this candy and help come up with a plan that works for you.

*According to retail – we are NOW in the holiday season! Check out this article Caution: Rocky Road Ahead on how to handle and make your plan for the holiday season that is NOW upon us!!!!

About Carman

36 year old military wife of 18 years and stay at home mom to 4 incredible kids (3 girls ages 17, 11, 11 and our son is 6). After my 4th, and final baby, I decided I wanted to be more active, healthier, happier, and to be an example to my kids. I joined Weight Watchers and started using the Points Plus program to learn portion control, moderation, and develop healthier habits. I also used the dietSNAPS app to track my meals and it was such a life changer for me to literally *see* what I was putting in my body! Cyndi, Lexy and I created this blog to be accountability partners and that has been a huge key to this journey! I love to cook and I love converting my favorite recipes into a healthier version for my family to enjoy! I love the after effects of exercising :) I love challenging myself to fitness goals to change things up and in doing so I have run numerous 5K/10K's, several half marathons, one full 26.2 marathon, and a Tough Mudder. I love circuit training, weight training, and running sprints. My goal is to inspire others to take their health seriously, and to show how small changes can lead to big results.
